DOT/HSE Coordinator
Crude Oil & LPG Transportation | Texas
We are seeking an experienced DOT/HSE Coordinator to manage the safety and regulatory compliance program for our crude oil and LPG trucking operations in Texas.
This is a hands-on, management-level position responsible for DOT/FMCSA compliance, driver and equipment qualifications, safety programs, training, incident management, and regulatory reporting for a fleet of 50 drivers throughout Texas.
The ideal candidate understands trucking compliance, is highly organized, comfortable working in both the office and field, and can independently keep drivers and equipment safe, compliant, and ready for operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee our DOT/FMCSA Driver Qualification (DQ) files and driver compliance records.
- Track driver, vehicle, trailer/tank, permit, inspection, registration, and training expirations.
- Maintain Hazmat, LPG, DOT, IFTA, UCR, and other required compliance records and filings.
- Monitor CSA/BASIC performance and coordinate corrective actions and strategies.
- Conduct safety meetings, field audits, driver observations, and facility/well-site inspections.
- Lead accident, incident, spill, and safety investigations.
- Coordinate required driver and employee safety training.
- Maintain company DOT/HSE policies, procedures, and safety documentation.
- Manage safety/compliance software and ensure records remain accurate and current.
- Serve as the primary safety/compliance contact for insurance providers and assist with claims.
- Work with supervisors, drivers, maintenance, and management to resolve compliance and safety issues.
- Assist with emergency response and field safety issues as needed.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in DOT compliance, transportation safety, HSE, or trucking/oilfield operations preferred.
- Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations required.
- Hazmat compliance experience required; LPG experience strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Comfortable working with compliance software, ELD/telematics systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Bachelor’s degree in a safety related field preferred but not required with relevant experience.
Work Environment
This position is primarily Monday–Friday but requires flexibility for operational or emergency situations.
Approximately 30–40% travel is expected to company locations, yards, loading facilities, and well sites throughout Texas.
The position includes both office and field work in an oilfield transportation environment.
