Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule pickups and deliveries using transportation management systems (TMS).
- Utilize GPS and GIS tools to monitor vehicle locations, optimize routes, and improve transportation planning efficiency.
- Communicate clearly with drivers, carriers, warehouse staff, and clients via multi-line phone systems while maintaining excellent phone etiquette.
- Enter accurate data into systems like AS400 and transportation management platforms to track shipments, update statuses, and document dispatch activities.
- Manage shipping & receiving schedules, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to deadlines.
- Monitor fleet management systems to oversee vehicle availability, maintenance schedules, and compliance with safety standards.
- Analyze logistics data to identify opportunities for process improvements in supply chain operations.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of GIS, GPS technology, and transportation management systems (TMS) such as Samsara Transportation Management.
- Experience with freight dispatching, fleet management, shipping & receiving processes, and 3PL (third-party logistics) coordination.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally and efficiently.
- Proficiency in data entry, typing accuracy, and using systems like AS400 for logistics documentation.
- Solid understanding of transportation planning principles within supply chain environments.
- Analysis skills to interpret logistical data for optimizing routes and improving dispatch efficiency.
