Summary

The Coating Technician is responsible for executing the coating process in accordance with established safety, quality, and operational standards. This role ensures consistent and efficient production by operating, monitoring, and maintaining the Bauermeister and Wiener coating systems. The Coating Technician plays a key role in supporting continuous production flow, maintaining product integrity, and ensuring compliance with all food safety and workplace safety protocols.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

• Learn to operate, troubleshoot, and service Bauermeister and Wiener system machines.
• Operate chocolate coating equipment, maintaining proper temperature, viscosity, and application control.
• Perform routine cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance on equipment (conveyor belts, holding tanks, enrobing chambers) to prevent contamination and ensure smooth operation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical or electrical issues related to coating machines and product quality.
• Monitor and adjust equipment settings to maintain precise temperature, pressure, and flow requirements.
• Assist the supervisor with shift documentation, ensuring run logs, production reports, and receiving logs are accurate and complete.
• Operate process computers and control systems to support efficient manufacturing.
• Work with pumps, piping, and bulleting procedures to maintain product flow.
• Perform viscosity and fineness tests to ensure coatings meet quality specifications.
• Support unloading of sugar and oil deliveries and maintain accurate receiving records.
• Utilize the current WIP system to manage and control inventory levels effectively.
• Ensure proper ingredient additions and dry mix system operation.
• Provide inventory and supply to various tanks and production lines as needed.
• Act as a back-up to Chocolate Unloader.
• Perform housekeeping, sanitation tasks, vacuuming, and proper waste disposal in compliance with GMP and HACCP standards.
• Promptly report any food safety issues or concerns to management.
  
  

Requirements

• Mechanically inclined with a minimum Ramsay MAT-5 score of 22.
• 2–3 years of machine operation experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Previous food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Sit-down forklift experience.
• Milling experience is a plus.
  
  

Physical Activities/Requirements/Conditions:

This position requires the physical ability to perform various production-related tasks in a manufacturing environment. Employees must be able to stand, walk, bend, squat, twist at the waist, turn the head and body, and reach in all directions. Additional physical demands include climbing, handling/grasping, fingering, and using fine motor skills. Visual acuity for both near and far distances is necessary, along with clear verbal and auditory communication. The role involves lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Work is performed in an environment that may include exposure to machinery, noise, and fluctuating temperatures. Must be able to work in elevated temperature environments (90°F or higher) for extended periods.

Employees in this role may be exposed to a variety of production machinery, including but not limited to: foiling machines, box-making equipment, work tables, conveyor lines, pouching machines, case sealers, and labeling machines. The work environment is fast-paced and may involve frequent interaction with automated equipment.
