Field Manager – Maintenance Landscape 

 

The Field Manager role is vital in all aspects of our Landscape Maintenance Division, and Snow & Ice Management services. This position requires an enthusiastic individual who wants to learn, manage a crew, grow with us and ensure that our work meets or exceeds client's expectations. The Field Manager’s role also includes responsibilities, such as participating and training in safety meetings, managing effective routes, and working alongside the crew.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Landscape Skills: perform all levels of landscape maintenance with tasks assigned, while effectively managing and training crew members. Adhere to all safety protocols, achieve targeted results within contract of services and budgeted hours/expenses working within allotted labor costs, maintain clean and organized sites, and exceed client expectations. Perform high quality outcomes for Green Season in tasks that include (weeding, bed clean-up, bed maintenance, mulching, shrub trimming, ground care maintenance, edging, trimming, raking, mowing, and Snow & Ice Removal).  
  • Equipment Knowledge and Operation: strong knowledge of all types of equipment used in landscape maintenance including but not limited to: (string trimmers, edgers, leaf blowers, backpack sprayers, chainsaws, hand pruners, hedge trimmers, spreaders, tractors, and mowers) and operation of such tools in a safe and efficient manner. Experience with driving and understanding commercial vehicles and various trailers is required.
  • Reporting and Quality Control: report production, route, and crew efficiency-based feedback and any equipment repairs, injuries, damage-based issues to Area Manager. Responsible for onsite production, completing a general pre-and-post site evaluation before moving to the next site.
  • Relationship Building and Collaboration: nurture strong relationships between Field Managers, Area Managers, Administrative staff and other Crew Members. Be able to work alongside the crew as a team.
  • Equipment Maintenance: adhere to all required scheduled maintenance appointments, notify Shop Manager of truck, trailer, and/or equipment issues by phone to diagnose and/or provide service call. Complete all Repair Ticket Tags for equipment and Shop Repair/Service Request forms for truck and trailer repairs upon return to the yard.
  • Time Recording and Procedures: adhere to clock in/out procedures for you and crew, safety rules and regulations, equipment operation/maintenance procedures, and proper landscape procedures in accordance with company training. 
  • Training: interest in growing within the company, attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions as required. Ensure all new crew members are fully trained within RM guidelines.
  • Snow Season Duties: role requires additional duties assigned at season change for snow; scheduling, sites, and role is subject to change
  • Safety: ensure that all work is performed safely and in accordance with company and industry standards and regulations. Contribute to our safety culture by wearing assigned uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE)

 

Qualifications:

  • 2 or more years of landscape maintenance, production, irrigation, enhancement, or construction crew member and/or lead experience, plus snow & ice management. (required)
  • Transportation and Commercial Driving: reliable transportation and ability to commute to the yard and/or direct-to-site, valid driver’s license, and Non-CDL DOT Medical Certificate. Experience driving commercial vehicles and trailers. (required)
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of crew members, providing guidance, training, and oversight on all tasks. Delegate tasks and responsibilities to the team based on project requirements.
  • Abilities: learn and perform essential duties of role; to plant, prune, care for lawns and plants. Learn and apply herbicides or pesticides safely. Understand basic pest and plant diseases. Use and take care of hand tools, mechanical equipment, power tools, and rolling equipment.
  • Physical Abilities: to stand for extended periods, walk long distances, manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights up to 50lbs on regular basis. Be able to push, pull, and guide materials over 75lbs.
  •  Communication: good verbal/written communication, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to become proficient with Apps (i.e. Aspire).
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. (preferred)
  • Bi-Lingual in Spanish (preferred)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age. (required)
  • US work authorization (required)

Schedule:

  • Green Season: Report to yard, Monday to Friday with 7a prompt start. Occasional overtime/weekends; scheduled-based work.
  • Snow Season: 24/7 operations, on call, direct-to-site report based on assignment.
