Position Description:
The Resident/Senior Mechanical Engineer will act as a primary technical liaison, coordinating engineering tasks, resolving technical issues, designing, building, testing, troubleshooting physical mechanical systems and components and ensuring product integration located at our Product Development Center in Romulus, MI.
Responsibilities:
- Address technical issues through root-cause analysis and coordinate corrective actions with the customer and internal teams.
- Maintain engineering documentation and manage the customer change management process, ensuring all technical requirements are met and approved. Prepare technical documentation, such as blueprints, reports, and manuals
- Lead the integration of products into the vehicle, which may involve electrical/software integration and physical part integration.
- Support customer production launches, perform dock audits, and handle warranty-related issues, including technical analysis of returned parts
- Design, analyze, and test mechanical and thermal devices, subsystems, and components, using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Create and build prototypes and test fixtures to validate designs.
- Conduct experiments, analyze test results, and troubleshoot issues to diagnose faulty operations and implement remedies.
- Oversee the manufacturing process for mechanical components and equipment.
- Evaluate and improve the efficiency and performance of existing mechanical devices and systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in engineering (preferably mechanical engineering)
- 5 years of resident/senior mechanical engineering experience
- 8 years automotive industry experience
- Strong knowledge of automotive systems, familiarity with CATIA, and experience with Ford Teamcenter
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills are critical for working with both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Hands-on Experience: Practical experience with building, assembling, and testing physical components and systems.
- Prior Ford experience preferred
- Minimum of 8 years of strong analytical and creative skills to solve complex problems and improve designs.
