Job Overview
RLD Sustain Holdings Corporation is seeking an exceptional Illinois-licensed attorney to serve as its Chief Legal and Government Affairs Officer.
This executive position is intended for a highly accomplished attorney possessing significant experience in governmental affairs, economic development, public finance, infrastructure development, strategic negotiations, and executive leadership.
The successful candidate will become the principal legal representative of the organization and will lead governmental relations, strategic negotiations, major development initiatives, public finance activities, and executive-level legal strategy.
This position is not intended for a traditional transactional attorney. We are seeking an executive leader capable of representing the organization before senior governmental officials, public agencies, strategic stakeholders, major landowners, financing participants, and other key decision-makers.
Duties And Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal legal representative of the organization.
- Lead governmental affairs initiatives and strategic governmental outreach.
- Represent the organization before state, county, municipal, and local governmental entities.
- Lead negotiations involving economic development initiatives, governmental agreements, infrastructure projects, and strategic business matters.
- Coordinate relationships with governmental officials, public agencies, economic development organizations, and strategic stakeholders.
- Support public finance initiatives and related legal matters.
- Oversee and coordinate internal and external legal counsel.
- Provide legal and strategic advice to executive leadership.
- Assist with major land acquisition, development, infrastructure, and financing initiatives.
- Support long-term organizational growth and expansion objectives.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Active Illinois law license in good standing.
- Minimum twenty years of legal experience.
- Significant experience working with Illinois governmental entities.
- Significant experience involving governmental affairs, economic development, infrastructure, public finance, real estate, or related disciplines.
- Exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
- Demonstrated executive leadership experience.
- Demonstrated ability to represent organizations before senior governmental officials and public agencies.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates possessing one or more of the following backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply:
- Former Illinois Finance Authority executive or legal experience.
- Former Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity experience.
- Former Illinois Governor's Office legal experience.
- Former Illinois Attorney General's Office experience.
- Former public finance, infrastructure, economic development, or governmental affairs law partner experience.
- Experience involving bond financings, governmental incentive programs, economic development initiatives, or major development projects.

Compensation
RLD Sustain intends to offer a highly competitive executive compensation package commensurate with experience, qualifications, leadership capabilities, and demonstrated success.
Compensation will include executive-level salary, benefits, incentive opportunities, and additional executive participation arrangements that will be discussed directly with selected candidates.
