What are the responsibilities and job description for the TRUST & ESTATE PARALEGAL position at RJS LAW?
RJS Law seeks a highly skilled, knowledgeable, and motivated estate planning paralegal to join our Family Wealth Group in providing estate planning and administration services to families and high-net-worth individuals.
Responsibilities Include:Estate Planning:
Assist attorneys in preparation of estate documents including wills, trusts, powers of attorney for health care and property management, and nominations of guardians. Assist clients in funding their trusts. Utilize working knowledge of the formation and estate-planning function of limited liability companies, charitable foundations, and family limited partnerships.
Trust Administration:
Utilize knowledge of the procedures for post-mortem trust administration, including, but not limited to, funding sub-trusts, preparation of trust accountings, distribution of assets, and preparation of fiduciary income tax returns and estate tax returns.
Probate:
Assist in all aspects of opening probate proceedings from the appointment of a personal representative to the final distribution of the estate, including valuation of estate assets, preparation of probate accountings, and the drafting of all court forms, petitions, and orders.
Qualifications and Requirements:Education:
Bachelor's degree required, along with the education and experience requirements set forth in California Business and Professions Code Section 6450 et seq. (Paralegal Certificate a plus)
Experience:
At least three to five years of experience as a probate/estate planning paralegal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
● Significant knowledge of the procedures, terminology, and documents relating to estate planning and probate matters, including pour-over wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, assignments of personal property, powers of attorney, advance health care directives, and HIPAA authorizations.
● Able to competently and efficiently draft documents.
● Outstanding organizational and time management skills.
● Demonstrated ability to both understand the “big picture” and deliver work with close attention to detail.
● Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software (Word, Outlook, Excel) and related law office trust and estate software.
● Excellent analytical skills and communication skills (written and verbal).
● Ability to work effectively within a team environment and to work proactively.
● Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and to coordinate multiple tasks concurrently.

Salary Range: $60,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year (non-exempt), depending on experience and knowledge.
