What are the responsibilities and job description for the Handyman position at RJR Maintenance Group Inc.?
We are looking for a reliable Handyman to undertake maintenance and repair tasks for our clients primarily in healthcare facilities throughout the five boroughs and Westchester. The ideal candidate should have a diverse skill set in repairs and general maintenance, works well under pressure from client and company imposed deadlines, neat and organized and willing to work with a team of others to complete the projects at hand.
Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and light repairs per client request.
- Work may include but is not limited to: Acoustic ceiling grid and tile installation and repair, framing, sheetrock install and finishing, painting, general maintenance and house keeping
- Maintaining, repairing and inspecting fire and smoke dampers, installing firestopping material, installing actuators and access doors in sheetrock and metal, hollow metal door repairs and installation, millwork installation, pipe insulation and flooring and cove base installation.
- Assist tradespeople with electrical, plumbing or HVAC repairs.
- Working in healthcare facilities that require utmost professionalism and cleanliness
Requirements
- Experience as a Handyman or similar role is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of repair techniques and maintenance practices.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
- Physically capable of lifting heavy objects and tasks requiring manual dexterity.
- Willing to travel site to site by public transit.
- Fluent in English.
- Understanding of NFPA guidelines and OSHA safety protocols.
- Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems.
- Good communication ability.
- Attention to detail.
Rate and Schedule:
- $18-$25/hr. Rate based on experience.
- Monday – Friday - 8-hour shifts.
- Must be willing to work weekends and overnights based on clients preferred working schedule.
