Lead Technician – Operations & Maintenance - Railway Transportation
Location: Orlando, FL

Position Summary:
This role is primarily responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance, vehicle recovery activities, and central control operations on automated transit systems. The Lead Technician provides guidance and oversight to Operations & Maintenance Technicians and serves as the on-site technical authority within established procedures and operational standards.
Must be open to working varying shifts with advance notice:
1st: 6 am – 2:30 pm
2nd: 2 pm – 10:30 pm
3rd: 10 pm – 6:30 am
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Perform skilled preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, adjustments, and repairs on a range of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment and components within automated transit systems.
• Utilize technical manuals, engineering drawings, and schematics to diagnose and resolve system faults.
• Apply precision measuring instruments including micrometers, oscilloscopes, and analyzers to test, align, calibrate, and repair system components.
• Accurately document all maintenance activities in prescribed formats and within required timeframes.
• Operate central control systems safely and efficiently in accordance with operational guidelines.
• Conduct vehicle recovery activities safely and in a timely manner as needed.
• Train and mentor new and less-experienced technicians on best practices for maintenance, diagnostics, and repair.
• Communicate effectively via public address and two-way radio systems.
• Oversee, perform, and sign off on all assigned maintenance activities.
Additional Responsibilities
• Support operational workflow to meet schedules and quality standards; escalate equipment issues and material needs to management as appropriate.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with all safety protocols and equipment operating procedures.
• Participate in team meetings and working groups to address operational issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and stay current on regulatory requirements and policy updates.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Assumes supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Supervisor or Engineer.
Tools & Equipment
Maintenance Management Information Systems (MMIS), standard and specialized software applications, micrometers, oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, calipers, power tools, and hand tools required for electro-mechanical and maintenance operations.
Qualifications
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an electromechanical field required.
• Prior automated transit or people mover (APM) or rail system experience preferred, not required
• Demonstrated proficiency with precision measuring instruments and the ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and complex written instructions.
• Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record required.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain airport security clearance.
• Must pass pre-employment background check, drug/alcohol screening, physical exam, and Ishihara color vision test (Red/Green); ongoing drug and alcohol testing required.
• Must be fluent in English (read, write, speak, and comprehend).
Education
• Associate's degree in Electronics or a related field required; or equivalent hands-on experience considered.
• Copies of relevant degrees and/or certifications will be required prior to hire.
• Certification in Aviation, Automotive, or a similar Electro-Mechanical Technology preferred.
Physical Requirements
• Regularly required to use hands for handling and manipulation of equipment; reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, talk, and hear; occasionally required to sit.
• Must regularly lift up to 10 lbs., frequently lift up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
• Specific vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
