Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join our team for the summer. This hands-on opportunity is ideal for a student currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Marine Manufacturing Engineering who is eager to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world production environment. The intern will support continuous improvement initiatives, process optimization, and day-to-day manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in analyzing and improving manufacturing processes for efficiency, quality, and safety
- Support the development and documentation of standard work instructions and process flows
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation for production issues
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams on ongoing projects and initiatives
- Conduct time studies and help identify opportunities for cost reduction and waste elimination
- Assist with tooling, fixture design, and process validation efforts
- Collect, analyze, and present data to support engineering decisions
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment in accordance with company standards
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Marine Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with CAD software is a plus
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Hands-on mindset with a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies
- Exposure to marine, composites, or assembly-based manufacturing processes
