Job Summary
Join our dedicated team as an Awake Direct Support Professional (DSP) working overnight shifts from 11pm to 7am. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, around-the-clock care to individuals with developmental disabilities, seniors, and residents in assisted living or memory care settings. Your energetic and proactive approach will ensure residents’ safety, comfort, and well-being during overnight hours. You will be a key supporter in maintaining a safe, clean, and engaging environment, promoting independence and quality of life for those you serve.
Duties
- Monitor residents’ safety throughout the night, responding promptly to their needs and emergencies
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal care, hygiene, dressing, and mobility support
- Administer medication following prescribed protocols and document all medication administration accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
- Conduct vital signs checks such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to monitor health status
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary plans while maintaining a clean kitchen environment
- Perform light cleaning duties to uphold a safe and hygienic living space
- Document incidents, resident observations, and shift reports thoroughly to ensure continuity of care
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or group homes is highly preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, and memory support strategies
- Experience assisting with ADLs and providing personal care in home or community settings
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and vital signs monitoring
- Background in long-term care or home & community care environments is advantageous
- Valid driver’s license for driving residents safely when required
- Strong caregiving skills coupled with excellent communication abilities and patience
