EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Deliver primary care to resident student clients utilizing a compassionate and respectful approach; develop therapeutic plans for both illness prevention and education; and assess actual and potential health hazards, including analysis of risky behaviors that can negatively impact health statusPrescribe and dispense over-the-counter and prescription medications and, when called for, recommend changes in therapeuticsAssess, diagnose and treat both acute and chronic illness and injuries; refer students when necessary to other health care professionals, clinics, specialists, hospitals or other community agencies; and attend to students’ psychological and spiritual health issues through referral to Student Affairs colleaguesOrder, perform, interpret, evaluate and review diagnostic studies and procedures; record findings and formulate treatment plans; and document visit notesProvide support to parents concerning their child’s illness, while respecting confidentiality guidelinesServe as a resource to the campus community regarding health issues;
