The Systems Administrator will support both standalone workstations and server systems, perform software and hardware installations, conduct diagnostic testing, maintain network infrastructure, and provide technical support. Responsibilities
- Perform system administration for computer systems, servers, and LAN environments.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, peripherals, and network components.
- Conduct diagnostic testing, systems analysis, troubleshooting, and repair of IT networking resources.
- Install and maintain operating system software for devices supporting Windows, Linux distributions, HP-UX, and Solaris.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and network/system access controls.
- Develop and implement system backup, redundancy, and recovery procedures.
- Create and manage group policies, access control lists, and configuration standards.
- Perform system upgrades, patches, and routine maintenance (reboots, disk checks, backups, etc.).
- Support helpdesk operations via phone and email and track issues using the organization's incident management system.
- Support virtualization technologies and maintain virtual environments.
- Assist with deployments of electronic classroom technologies as needed.
- 4 years of hands-on systems management or systems administration experience.
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- DoD 8140.3 IAT Level II Certification (e.g., CompTIA Security CE).
- Technical knowledge of:
- Networking: LAN/WAN principles, networking concepts, protocols, security methodologies, and bandwidth management.
- Security: Firewalls, DMZs, encryption, cybersecurity principles, vulnerabilities, and defense-in-depth architecture.
- System Administration:
- Server and client OS environments
- System diagnostics and fault isolation
- Enterprise IT architecture
- OS command line tools (ipconfig, netstat, nbtstat, dir, etc.)
- Backup, recovery, and maintenance best practices
- Cloud Computing: Understanding of SaaS, IaaS, PaaS models and workload migration.
- 6-8 years of systems management or enterprise system administration experience.
- Demonstrated experience transitioning systems or services from on-premises to cloud environments.
- Professional IT certifications in technologies such as Azure, Microsoft, VMware, or other relevant system platforms.
- DoD 8140.3, IAT Level II compliant certification (e.g., CompTIA Security CE).
