The incumbent Nuclear Medicine Supervisor serves as the liaison between the facility and referring sources, such as physicians' offices, organizations and managed care representatives for all scheduling, pre-authorization and communicating needs. Acts as the communication link to assist in resolution of issues and perceived problems that may affect referring Physicians and customers. Provides input to management and assists with the development of long and short-term marketing goals and objectives. Will be responsible for accurately reporting volume statistics and office visit information. Acts as the department safety liaison to the PI and safety committees and helps with network initiatives pertaining imaging services.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Supervisor of Nuclear Medicine at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Supervises all technical personnel in the performance of procedures, stressing the importance of accuracy in calibration of radioactive material, precise calibrated dosage of radiopharmaceuticals, accuracy of the result of the studies, safety, and proper patient handling.
  • Evaluates performances of staff.
  • Responsible for all regulatory compliance including, but not limited to ACR, Joint Commission, NJDEP, DOH etc....
  • Participates in the interdepartmental planning, makes recommendations to radiology leadership.
  • Services budget required in maintenance, replacement and expansion of equipment, supplies, and personnel to meet the demands of services.
  • Inform staff physicians of the procedures when requesting various tests to ensure coordinated acquisition and storage of radioactive material to avoid unnecessary waste due to decay.
  • Views changes of status of personnel and equipment to determine the need for amendment of byproduct license by both the state and federal control agencies.
  • Oversees equipment maintenance, calibrations, and anticipation of need for major repair, replacement, and new acquisitions.
  • Maintains proper procedure of delivery of radioactive material and the safe storage and calibration to determine the accuracy of the stated dosage delivered.
  • Maintains records of delivery, receipt, storage, use, and disposal of radioactive material (individual records for procedures cases must be recorded).
  • Performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocol.
  • Performs daily inspection and calibration of equipment.
  • Maintains proper recording system to avoid undue exposure to personnel.
  • Flexibility in work schedule (including weekends & holidays) as needed to provide continual quality patient care and department needs.
  • Maintains a strict system of protection of restricted areas where radioactive material is stored and disposed of.
  • Oversees staff training to maintain the highest quality diagnostic images.
  • Prepares payroll, all staff scheduling, on-call coverage sheets, and overtime approval forms.
  • Schedules monthly departmental meetings and monthly departmental in-services utilizing staff and outside companies.
  • Assists in preparation of budget.
  • Adheres to the policies of Employee ID, Attendance, and Punctuality.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc.). This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver(s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational & Managerial Competencies.
  • Responsible for modality specific daily and monthly QA.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
  • Lifts a minimum of 25 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 50 lbs. and stands a minimum of 6 hours a day.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
  • Minimum of 3 or more years of experience in the field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Clinical leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT,N) or CNMT Registry
  • Nuclear Medical Technologist NJ State License
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position

Compensation
Minimum rate of $126,464.00 Annually

HMH is committed to pay equity and transparency for our team members. The posted rate of pay in this job posting is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act and does not reflect the full value of our market-competitive total rewards package.

  • Internal Equity: Compensation is determined in a manner consistent with compensation ranges for similar roles within the organization.
  • Budget and Grant Funding: Departmental budgets and any grant funding associated with the job position may impact the pay that can be offered.

Some jobs may also be eligible for performance-based incentives, bonuses, or commissions not reflected in the starting rate. Certain positions may also be eligible for shift differentials for work performed on evening, night, or weekend shifts.
