Position Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medication Technician (Med Tech) to join our dedicated team in our Memory Care Assisted Living community. The ideal candidate will assist residents with medication administration, monitor health conditions, and support the daily wellness of residents living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. This role requires empathy, attentiveness, and a commitment to providing safe, respectful, and person-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately administer prescribed medications to residents in accordance with physician orders and company policy.
- Maintain up-to-date, accurate medication documentation and resident records (MARs and TARs).
- Observe residents for changes in condition or medication side effects and promptly report concerns to licensed nursing staff.
- Assist with ADLs (activities of daily living) as needed, including grooming, hygiene, toileting, and mobility.
- Provide emotional support and reassurance to residents, especially during episodes of confusion, anxiety, or agitation.
- Communicate effectively with families, team members, and healthcare professionals.
- Support residents with memory care needs using appropriate redirection techniques and dementia-informed practices.
- Maintain infection control protocols and ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and education related to dementia care, safety, and medication management.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED REQUIRED
- HCA OR CNA REQUIRED - With Nurse Delegation AND Nurse Delegation with diabetes.
- CPR AND FOOD HANDLERS CARD REQUIRED
- FOOD HANDLERS REQUIRED
- Previous experience in assisted living or memory care strongly preferred.
- Basic knowledge of dementia-related behaviors and communication strategies.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and demonstrate compassion, patience, and understanding.
- Must be able to pass a background check, drug screen, and TB test.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, squat, and stand for extended periods.
