RiverView Health, is a community owned, membership based non-profit organization that was formed in 1898 and continues to be the sole community hospital in Crookston, MN.

RiverView Health operates a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital, RiverView Recovery Center; a chemical dependency outpatient treatment program, RiverView Home Care and five primary care and specialty clinics in the hospitals service area.

Responsibilities

Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT)

Location: Crookston Lab

Schedule: Full-time (.9fte) - rotating shifts, including weekends and a holiday rotation.

Pay Range: $22.21 - $37.16 /hr (based on experience)

Job Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly, benefitted position

RiverView Health has an opening for a full-time (72 hours every 2 weeks) Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT). The MLS or MLT is responsible for pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases of testing, follows standard operating procedures for MLS/MLTs, ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met, recognizes safety hazards and complies with all safety practices and protocols, collects and processes lab specimens with proper equipment, performs clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods and collects and manages samples of blood and other fluids from patients.

Qualifications

Minimums:

• MLS - Bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences or equivalent required. MLT – Associate Science degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent required.
• Current national certification through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible is required. 
• Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 6 months of employment.
• Current American Heart Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not certified upon hire training will be provided and certification must be obtained within 4 months from date of hire. 

Preferred(s):

• 2 years’ healthcare experience in any field
• 1 years of clinical laboratory experience, preferably in a generalist role across multiple disciplines (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, etc.)
• 2 years’ experience with laboratory information systems (LIS) and electronic health record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic or similar)
