Position Summary
The Supervisor of Endoscopy Services is a Registered Nurse who serves as both a strategic patient advocate and clinical leader within the Endoscopy Services setting. This position ensures continuity of care, promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, andaligns daily clinical operations with the hospital’s broader strategic goals.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Collaborate with and serve as a resource for multi-disciplinary departments and provide expertise and guidance as needed for patients and staff.
• Maintain relevant policies and procedures, outcomes data collection, quality improvement efforts and deliver staff education with a focus on patient care and safety.
• Triage concerns, received through both formal and information reporting, to the appropriate resource for resolution, in a professional and timely manner for follow-up.
• Provide direct patient care (as needed) which would require fulfillment of the staff nurse position, maintenance of all required licenses and certifications, and completion of annual skills assessment.
• Interview, hire, and manage the performance of assigned staff members.
• Ensure a cohesive and collaborative environment that promotes mutual respect and high performance expectations among all team members. Be available to staff to address their questions, interpret policies, provide input on patient care, and deliver bedside care as needed. Resolve conflicts regarding or between staff, patients, family, and other ancillary personnel.
• Coach employees on their performance to remind and realign staff with expected behaviors and job responsibilities. Report information as needed to unit leadership.
• Onboard, precept and provide continuing education to employees at multiple stages of skill and career development. Provide input and assist with annual skills day and other competency validation and check-off. Identify skill gaps and provide remediation for select employees or the unit in general.
• Actively participate in hospital and unit committees as deemed necessary by the manager/director on a variety of topics related to unit processes and procedures that improve patient care delivery and outcomes.
• Serve as a liaison for information and problem resolution between unit management, unit staff, and other healthcare delivery team members, providing support and optimum care for patients.
• May develop and deliver training to patients and staff.
• All other duties as assigned.
Education and Level of Education
- Minimum: Associate degree from an accredited school of Nursing
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school of Nursing
- Minimum: Two (2) years current Endoscopy clinical experience and one (1) year Charge Nurse or leadership experience
- Preferred: Two (2) or more years of Supervisor in healthcare environment with experience working in a collaborative team model.
