Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of menu items with efficiency and consistency, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation
- Follow established recipes, portion controls, and food handling procedures to maintain safety and quality standards
- Assist in menu planning by suggesting new dishes or modifications based on customer preferences and seasonal ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment sanitation
- Monitor food inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and minimize waste through effective food management
- Collaborate with dietary department staff to accommodate special dietary needs and ensure compliance with dietary guidelines
- Support catering events or special functions by preparing large quantities of food while maintaining quality
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and food service within a restaurant or similar setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices, handling procedures, and hygiene standards
- Excellent knife skills and proficiency in meal preparation techniques
- Experience with menu planning, catering, and fine dining environments is highly desirable
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Familiarity with dietary aide procedures and dietary department operations is a plus
