Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Working Foreman to lead our field operations. Key Responsibilities

You will supervise, plan, and coordinate daily field operations for underground utility projects while leading crews in excavation, site development, and utility installation. Your role includes overseeing & completing clearing, grading, underground utility installation, including storm, sewer, water and joint trench, and connecting the development to the jurisdictional utility main systems while ensuring all work meets quality standards, project specifications, and jurisdictional inspection approvals. Daily responsibilities involve implementing and enforcing safety protocols on all job sites, coordinating with project managers, clients, vendors, and subcontractors. You will train and mentor laborers and junior crew members, collaborate with pipelayers and operators, while managing equipment, materials, and project needs and schedules. You will be working outdoors in all weather and need to have mental & physical stamina and strength to demonstrate and ensure proper techniques, training, task execution, and job productivity. Quality control inspections, problem-solving, and job action plans will be essential parts of your leadership role.

Required Qualifications

We require a minimum of 5 years’ experience for the Working Foreman position with extensive knowledge of underground utilities including water, sewer, and storm systems. Proficient experience with excavation and site development projects is essential, and Level-U Fire Sprinkler System experience is preferred. You will need proven leadership and crew management skills along with a strong understanding of construction safety regulations including basic construction safety and specialized safety for heavy equipment, confined spaces, trenching, and rigging. The ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications is required, along with a valid driver's license with a safe driving record. Excellent communication and critical thinking skills are essential for success in this role.

Required Experience

You must have 5 years of direct & proficient experience of laboring, operating, and supervising crews using heavy equipment including excavators, loaders, heavy duty diesel utility pickup trucks, off road dump trucks, compaction equipment, rollers, generators, and compressors plus experience using an engineers’ tape measures and a variety of small construction and hand tools. Proficient experience with specialized pipelaying equipment, laser level systems, grade rods, and GPS grading technology along with understanding of survey and utility locate markings is required for this supervisory role.

Preferred Qualifications

Level U Fire sprinkle certification or equivalent for WA state licensing, knowledge of Washington State construction codes and regulations, Confined Space training, Competent Person training, CPR/First Aid certifications. Having experience with tablets, smartphones, Dropbox, and email is important as well as the ability to document important job information like material usage, daily progress, safety program requirements, & employee needs.
