With schools dating back to the 1870s, the award-winning Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) is now the 16th largest school district in California. RUSD educates nearly 42,000 students across 50 schools in Riverside. The District serves a large portion of Riverside as well as the unincorporated areas of Highgrove and Woodcrest. RUSD is led by its 13th Superintendent, Dr. Sonia Llamas and is governed by a Board of Education comprised of publicly elected officials who serve five different trustee areas.
Requirements / Qualifications
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Facilities, Planning & Development the Director of Facilities, Planning & Development plans, directs, coordinates, and supervises various activities relating to land acquisition, planning, construction, modernization, renovation, and reconstruction of facilities. Directs, oversees and develops all aspects of facilities planning and construction including: Long-Range Facilities Master Plan, enrollment planning, projections and analysis, District’s Educational Specifications, District’s Capital Facilities General Obligation Bond Program and State Facilities Program (S.F.P.) projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Effectively oversees and manages the Capital Facilities Program of one of the largest school districts in the State.
- Prepares capital facilities plans, budgets and schedules.
- Prepares District Long Range Facilities Master Plans.
- Serves as liaison with public agencies, technical consultants, and specialists regarding issues related to project entitlements, approvals, design and construction.
- Conducts complex studies and projections relating to demographics, building trends, economics, and land values.
- Provides annual and long-range enrollment projections, recommend boundary adjustments and student housing adjustments. • Serves as District California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Officer and oversees effective compliance with CEQA requirements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master’s degree preferred or a Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, business administration, public administration, city planning, or a related field and at least three years of experience in facilities, planning and development which includes three years of management-level supervisory experience.
- Must possess a valid California Driver’s License during the course of employment.
- Must be insurable at standard rates and maintain such insurability during the course of employment.
- Must provide personal transportation for job-related travel.
