The Beautician at Miller Healthcare is responsible for providing a variety of beauty services to residents, helping them maintain their personal appearance and well-being. This role involves performing haircuts, styling, coloring, and other grooming services in a manner that enhances the resident’s sense of dignity and self-esteem. The Beautician will also ensure that all services are performed in a safe and sanitary environment. This is an hourly, non-exempt position that requires a caring, patient, and skilled professional dedicated to serving the needs of our senior residents. Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.
Essential Duties
- Hair Care: Provide haircuts, styling, shampooing, coloring, and other hair care services to residents in accordance with their preferences and health conditions.
- Grooming Services: Offer additional grooming services, such as manicures, pedicures, and facial grooming, as needed and requested by residents.
- Sanitation and Safety: Ensure all equipment and tools are sanitized and maintained according to state regulations and facility policies. Adhere to all infection control protocols to protect residents and staff.
- Resident Interaction: Engage with residents in a friendly and respectful manner, taking time to understand their individual needs and preferences to provide personalized services.
- Scheduling: Manage and maintain an appointment schedule, coordinating with facility staff to ensure residents receive timely services without disrupting their care routines.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of services provided to each resident, including any special requests or notes regarding their preferences.
- Time Management: Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.
Non-essential Duties
- Product Inventory: Monitor and manage inventory of beauty supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained. Reorder supplies as needed, in coordination with facility management.
- Resident Activities: Assist in organizing and participating in resident-centered activities that promote socialization and well-being, such as beauty events or themed grooming days.
- Facility Support: Provide occasional assistance with other non-medical resident care tasks as needed, such as helping residents to and from the beautician area.
Required Experience
- Prior experience working as a beautician or cosmetologist is required.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a healthcare or senior living setting preferred.
Required Licensure/Education
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Licensure: A valid State of Illinois Cosmetology License is required.
Preferred Education
- Proficiency in a wide range of beauty and grooming services, including haircuts, styling, and coloring.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact compassionately with senior residents.
- Knowledge of sanitation and infection control practices in a beauty services environment.
