Summary:

Applicants must possess a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university that meets the educational requirements for licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC); or be registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC). Associate-level candidates must be actively working toward full licensure and be able to obtain licensure within two years of employment under appropriate clinical supervision. Behavioral health experience with integrated care and/or primary care is preferred. Experience working with American Indian/Alaska Native populations preferred. Experience working with suicide risk evaluation, education, and supportive counseling preferred. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of behavioral health assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Must have or willing to obtain CPR (BLS Provider) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross. Certification may be obtained prior to orientation. A valid California Driver’s License with a safe driving record, DMV record required. Must be insurable by the program’s insurance carrier. The focus of the position is to integrate care for patients between medical and behavioral health services, working closely with both departments. The Integrated Care Clinician will be responsible for monitoring pre-visit medical screens, provide brief evaluation and intervention, including suicide risk assessment, and will refer to BHS for follow up treatment and case management. Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health, the Integrated Care Clinician of this agency is required to provide both direct services and specialized supportive services to children and adults. Must have the ability to work a variable schedule to meet the client and program needs. This position is funded by a Grant. Must be able to work with the Indian Community, and be sensitive to the Indian Culture and its needs.   


Qualifications

Education:

Master’s degree from an accredited school that fulfills the academic requirement for Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, Psychology, from an accredited college or university.

 

Associate License: Associate Clinical Social Worker (ASW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) and working toward full licensure. Eligibility to accumulate clinical hours toward full licensure and be qualified to be licensed within two years of employment under appropriate clinical supervision.

 

Fully License: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or be registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).

California Driver’s License with a safe driving record, DMV record required Must be insurable by the program’s insurance carrier.

 

Experience:

Behavioral health experience with integrated care and/or primary care is preferred. Experience providing behavioral health services in a community health, primary care, or integrated care setting is preferred. If a recovering substance abuser, have maintained a minimum of four years of continued abstinence from mood-altering chemicals. If a recovering substance abuse family member (i.e., spouse, child), a minimum of four years of continued involvement in a recognized support system.

 

Certification:

CPR (BLS Provider) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross. Certification may be obtained prior to orientation.

 

Knowledge:     

Demonstrate understanding of Native American communities, knowledge of family systems, and substance abuse12-step support systems. Social worker will be familiar with principles and techniques of social work and of the function of public social service agencies; socioeconomic and cultural factors which promote stable family life, and an understanding of the factors that affect family security; physical and mental illnesses and their impact on community organizations and the services they provide.

 

Ability to:

Function effectively as a clinician. Provide personal transportation. Work independently when required yet function as a team member with other agency staff. Work on a flexible schedule, which may include early or late shifts, or work on weekends as determined by the Behavior Health Services Director. Share professional knowledge with clinical staff and applying this knowledge to a wide range of complex and difficult cases involving children, adolescents and adults in individual or group counseling services. Must be able to work with the Indian Community, and be sensitive to the Indian culture and its needs.

 

Skill:   

Superior skill in working with other professionals such as The Department of Children’s Services, physicians, psychologists, nurses, lawyers, judges, educators and other related professionals such as Indian Child Welfare, and Indian Child and Family Services. Be able to apply the principles of general and/or child psychology and family relationships. Evaluate personal and psychological factors in the client and/or family’s situation. Possess clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.

 

Physical Demands:

Work is primarily performed in clinic office spaces, and may require the routine risks and discomforts of traveling. Exposure to contagious and infectious disease is a common risk. Work sometimes involves dealing with people and individuals that are uncooperative and/or hostile.
