Essential Duties
- Perform EKG Tests: Accurately perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) on patients as ordered by physicians, ensuring proper placement of electrodes and adherence to safety protocols.
- Holter Monitors, Event and Loop Recorders: Performs set-up, application, and processing of Holter monitors and event and loop recorders.
- Monitor Patient Condition: Observe and monitor patients during testing, providing immediate attention to any signs of distress or complications.
- Record and Analyze Results: Record EKG results in patient records, ensuring accuracy and clarity. Prepare reports for physicians and assist in the interpretation of the test results when necessary.
- Maintain Equipment: Regularly inspect, maintain, and calibrate EKG machines and related equipment to ensure they are in proper working condition.
- Patient Interaction: Explain procedures to patients, address their concerns, and ensure their comfort during testing. Obtain patient history and relevant information to aid in accurate testing.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a high standard of patient care and to facilitate efficient workflow in the department. Responds to trauma, cardiopulmonary arrest and respiratory failure codes.
- Flexibility: Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.
- Clerical Duties: Assist with scheduling appointments, answering phones, and handling basic tasks as needed.
- Inventory Management: Help manage and restock supplies related to EKG testing and other cardiology-related procedures.
- Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with the latest techniques and advancements in EKG technology.
