Coordinates scheduling of Surgical Cases with surgeon and/or office scheduler using appropriate guidelines and regulations to ensure smooth flow of surgical operations. Submits all statistical and related information for block booking and departmental OR liaison committees. Supports the educational needs of new staff members associated with the surgical scheduling. Produces a daily surgical schedule with the operating room Director or designee.

What You Will Do
- Demonstrates ability to analyze information in anticipating and managing block and non-block time.
- Demonstrates proficiency in posting and scheduling surgical cases for the department. Capable of managing competing instrument/equipment and staff resources that support the needs of patient, physicians and operating room.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform surgical scheduling utilizing the department/facility's assigned computerized software system. Is able to demonstrate the ability to identify and complete follow-up measures to resolve issues/concerns (lab, x-ray, OR schedule).
- Demonstrates the ability to perform general secretarial duties. Answers phone in a timely manner using appropriate phone etiquette skills and screens calls appropriately to support a positive service experience. Functions as an advocate for positive customer service as the greeter of the unit.
Education
- High School Diploma or GED, (Required)
- Associates Degree, (Preferred)
- Medical office experience (Required)
- Surgical scheduling experience (Preferred)
- Knowledge of the operation, use and functions of an automated surgical scheduling system
- Knowledge of basic medical/surgical terminology
- Organizational skills with attention to detail
- Communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to work well under pressure and work effectively with others
- General clerical skills including ability to use a fax machine/scanner/copier, phones, etc.
- Microsoft Office technology; Word, Excel, Outlook
