Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electric Motor Winder to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the disassembly, inspection, repair, rewinding, testing, and reassembly of electric motors and related equipment. This position offers the opportunity to work in a climate-controlled environment while contributing to the repair and restoration of critical industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, diagnose, and document electric motors and related components.
• Rewind AC and DC motors, stators, armatures, and other electrical rotating equipment according to specifications.
• Strip, clean, and prepare motor cores and components for rewinding and repair.
• Wind coils using manual winding equipment while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
• Install insulation systems, varnish, and related materials as required.
• Perform electrical testing, inspections, and quality checks to ensure proper motor operation and compliance with specifications.
• Maintain accurate repair records, test results, and documentation of work performed.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, testing instruments, and shop equipment.
• Follow company safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Collaborate with team members while also demonstrating the ability to work independently on assigned projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience rewinding and repairing AC/DC electric motors preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret motor winding data, specifications, and repair instructions.
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with electrical testing equipment and repair shop practices.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to lift and handle motor components safely.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and team-oriented.
• Able to pass a pre-employment drug test and adhere to random drug-testing when required in compliance with our company commitment to safety.
• Ability to work occasional overtime.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Climate-controlled repair facility.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly; occasional lifting of heavier components with assistance or lifting equipment.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Manual dexterity required to handle small parts, wire, insulation materials, hand tools, and testing equipment.
• Ability to work with precision and maintain attention to detail during winding, assembly, and testing operations.
• Capable of operating hand tools, power tools, winding machines, and electrical testing equipment safely.
• Ability to distinguish wire colors and identify visual defects in components and winding systems.
• Comfortable working around industrial equipment, moving machinery, and motor repair shop environments while following all safety procedures.
