Title: Food Bank Worker
Department: Fish Food Bank
Hours: 4 hours per day, Monday-Friday 730am-1130am
Supervisor: Program Administrator
Classification: Community Worker
The Riverside County Latino Commission is seeking motivated, skilled candidates for an immediate opening for the part-time position as a Food Bank Worker. High school diploma preferred.
Position Summary
The Food Bank Worker is responsible to ensure donated foods/food is used to the greatest extend as possible by the community. Performs food pantry and warehouse work necessary to provide food assistance to community including product sorting and storage, product pick up, stocking pantry and coolers, discard of waste, cooling of fruit and produce to maintain appropriate product quality. Works in a safe manner and complies with all safety rules and procedures. Conducts housekeeping to assure that work areas meet standards for cleanliness, and that areas are organized, clean, and clutter free.
General Responsibilities:
- Collect Food donations on time from several valley grocery stores and make sure they are brought to the warehouse.
- Inspect all donations for good quality, and discard waste or items that do not meet standards.
- Keep all refrigerators and freezers clean and hygienic inside and out.
- Distribute food donations to the community of specific days and times.
- Ensure that the building grounds are kept clean, such as storage areas, refrigerator areas, and freezers, and outside building grounds.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Poses a valid DL and clean driving record.
- Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds
- Ability to follow basic oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work in summer temperatures.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Must be honest, fair, courteous and consistent in handling and disbursing food donations.
- Willing to follow directions
- Bilingual- Spanish preferred but not required.
