About The Job
Rivers Edge Construction does residential remodeling, kitchen and bath work, and insurance restoration across West Michigan. We're looking for a finisher who takes pride in their work and doesn't need supervision to deliver a flawless wall. Responsibilities
- Tape, coat, and finish new drywall and repairs to Level 4 and Level 5 finish
- Apply light crow's foot ceiling texture with a stomp brush, consistent across the whole room
- Match existing textures on repairs (crow's foot, orange peel, knockdown, skip trowel) so the patch disappears
- Repair water and storm damage, including cut-outs, patches, butt joints, and blending into existing finishes
- Skim coat damaged or uneven walls
- Work clean in occupied homes, using dust containment and protecting floors and furnishings
Requirements
- 3 years as a dedicated drywall finisher, not a general handyman
- Can do light crow's foot ceiling texture, and will show it in a skills test
- Hand tools: taping knives, hawk, mud pan, corner trowel, banjo
- Automatic tools: bazooka/automatic taper, corner roller, angle heads, flat boxes
- Knows when to use setting-type compound (20/45/90) and when to use premixed, and how to mix to the right consistency
- Can install and finish paper-faced, metal, and vinyl corner bead, including bullnose
- Comfortable on stilts, ladders, and baker scaffolding
- Experienced with pole sanders, hand sanding, and dustless/vacuum sanders
- Can complete a room start to finish without callbacks for ridges, pops, flashing, or visible seams
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Able to lift 50 lbs and work overhead all day
Preferred
- Restoration or insurance repair experience
- Owns your own hand tools
- Experience finishing around cabinets, tile backer, and wet areas
How We Hire
- Send photos of your recent finish work, including at least one textured ceiling
- Qualified applicants complete a paid hands-on skills test: tape a butt joint and an inside corner, then texture a ceiling section
- Two work references
Pay: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
