Role Description The Science Teacher is a full-time, on-site position based in Bettendorf, IA. The individual in this role will plan, prepare, and deliver engaging science lessons that align with the school’s college preparatory curriculum and academic standards. Daily responsibilities include designing and implementing lesson plans, assessing student learning through a variety of methods, and providing timely feedback to support academic growth. The Science Teacher will create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages inquiry, critical thinking, and curiosity across scientific disciplines. Additional duties may include collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development, communicating regularly with families and caregivers, participating in faculty meetings and professional development, and supporting school events and co-curricular activities.
Qualifications
- Background in Science Education with the ability to teach core sciences; experience integrating Physics content is highly desirable.
- Strong foundation in Mathematics to support quantitative aspects of science instruction.
- Recognized as a Qualified Teacher (state certification or equivalent, or eligibility to obtain), with demonstrated skill in Lesson Planning and curriculum design.
- Proven ability to create student-centered, inquiry-based learning experiences and differentiate instruction for a diverse range of learners.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills, with a commitment to a multicultural and inclusive learning environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience teaching at the middle or upper school level in a college preparatory or independent school setting is preferred.
- Comfort with using educational technology and digital tools to enhance instruction and track student progress.
