Position Overview
Riverland Hills is seeking a skilled and ministry-minded Chef / Food Services Director to lead all aspects of our food service operations. This individual will bring both culinary excellence and a heart for hospitality, creating high-quality meals that support church programming, special events, and community outreach.
This role is ideal for someone who sees food as a ministry—using meals to bring people together, foster relationships, and reflect the love of Christ.
Key Responsibilities
Culinary & Menu Leadership
- Plan and execute weekly meals, special events, and seasonal menus
- Ensure meals are nutritious, appealing, and cost-effective
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency
- Accommodate dietary needs and preferences when possible
Kitchen Operations
- Oversee all day-to-day kitchen operations, including scheduling and workflow
- Manage inventory, purchasing, and vendor relationships
- Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
- Develop and manage the food services budget responsibly
Team & Volunteer Leadership
- Recruit, train, and lead kitchen staff and volunteers
- Cultivate a positive, servant-hearted team culture
- Provide training in food safety, kitchen procedures, and hospitality
Ministry & Event Support
- Partner with ministry leaders to support church-wide events, Wednesday meals, weddings, funerals, and outreach initiatives
- Help create meaningful environments where food enhances fellowship and community
- Support outreach efforts through meal-based ministry opportunities
Facilities & Safety
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of all kitchen and storage areas
- Oversee maintenance and care of kitchen equipment
- Uphold all safety standards and best practices
Qualifications
- Proven culinary experience (formal training preferred but not required)
- Experience in food service leadership, catering, or institutional cooking
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Knowledge of food safety standards (ServSafe certification preferred or willingness to obtain)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities with flexibility and grace

Work Schedule
This position requires flexibility, including daytime, evening, and weekend hours based on church programming and events.

Pay: $46,493.58 - $55,992.27 per year
