About The Riverdale YM-YWHA:
The Riverdale Y is a 50,000-square-foot Jewish Community Center that provides educational, recreational, cultural, and wellness programming for children and adults of all ages. The Y features an early childhood center, camps, and afterschool programs, a senior center, a performing arts center, and a health & wellness center that includes cardio and free weight studios, group exercise classes, a gymnasium, and a swimming pool. Position Overview:
We are seeking a friendly and customer-focused Welcome Desk Associate to join our team. As a Welcome Desk Associate, you will be the first point of contact for all Riverdale Y members, program participants, and visitors entering our facility. You will provide an excellent, safe, and welcoming experience, manage the front desk's general operations, and support a variety of administrative tasks supporting the Riverdale Y programs and operations.
The ideal candidate will be friendly, articulate, detail-oriented, and capable of handling various tasks in a fast-paced environment. This person must develop an extensive knowledge of Riverdale Y’s programs, membership, and services to effectively provide excellent customer service experience.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Greet and assist visitors, members, and guests courteously and professionally.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries about membership, programs, events, and services offered by Riverdale Y.
Provide information about Riverdale Y program schedules, memberships, registration, and fees. Attentively and promptly responding to member needs, and assisting visitors and staff as necessary.
- Assist in processing membership and program/class participant registrations, renewals, and payments using the Riverdale Y’s software system (Daxko Operations)
- Perform a variety of administrative tasks, such as data entry, using Riverdale Y’s variety of systems (Daxko Operations, Protector.net, Excel, Google Workplace, etc.)
- Handle and resolve complaints from members and activity participants with patience and empathy, while de-escalating and escalating issues when necessary.
- Ability to multi-task as well as prioritize needs in a busy environment.
- Maintain an organized front desk area and ensure the availability of necessary materials and supplies.
- Monitor the sign-in/sign-out procedures for visitors and participants.
Ensure compliance with safety and security procedures, including monitoring building access. Conduct any other assignments deemed appropriate by management.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of six (6) months of customer service or receptionist experience
- High level of emotional intelligence; cultural competence in working with colleagues and clients of diverse backgrounds and identities
Commitment to excellent customer service and satisfaction, innovation, and creativity Knowledge of Jewish holidays, traditions, and culture is a plus
- Remain calm under pressure
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to work with independence and efficiently
- Must possess excellent computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and membership management/CRM software
- Ability to multi-task within a busy environment
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be able to work Monday-Friday 5 AM - 1:30 PM (including 30-minute lunch break)
- Must be able to work occasional special events throughout the year, sometimes on Sundays, based on the demands of the organization.
The ideal candidate:
Has clear articulation and the ability to communicate and listen effectively. Must be detail-oriented.
- Adapts to changing work environments and maintains a good working relationship with co-workers, donors, members, and activity participants.
- Fluent in Spanish is preferred, but not necessary
