What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodial Helper - 4 Hour position at RIVERDALE HIGH?
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To assist the plant manager in maintaining safety, security, cleanliness and appearance of the physical plant.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain cleanliness of halls and entrances.
- Cleans walls and windows.
- Check dressing rooms.
- Cleans classroom units as specified in accordance with working schedule and minimum cleaning schedule specific school needs.
- Be responsive to coordinator, plant manager and/or assistant custodian where appropriate.
- Perform all other duties as required by the plant manager or Coordinator of Maintenance & Custodial Services.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS WORKED:
- All weather conditions, winter and summer.
- Employee is expected to provide and wear appropriate clothing for conditions of the day.
- Work day consists of 4 hours daily, 5 days per week.
- Overtime, i.e., after hours. Saturday and Sunday is occasionally required.
- Plant Managers/custodial personnel may be required to work a split shift.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
- Must be able to read and comprehend service order and repair request documents.
EQUIPMENT USED:
- Electric buffers, stripper, mop, push broom, etc.
PHYSICAL INVOLVEMENT:
- Trunk flexion and squatting are necessary requirements in accomplishing tasks such as working under raised buildings, in attic spaces, toilet room enclosures, etc., again often necessitating carrying tools, building materials, etc.
MENTAL INVOLVEMENT:
- Comprehend written instructions.
HUMAN RELATIONS INVOLVEMENT:
- Conduct activities in group settings maintaining an objective attitude, decorum and diplomacy, tact and discretion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to read and write and to comprehend instructions on operation of equipment of all types and on the use of chemicals used in cleaning operation.
