Special Education Long-Term Substitute Teacher
- Approximate Dates: September 21, 2025 - December 19, 2025
- Pay Rate: $165/day
- Must hold an Iowa license with the K-12 Instructional Strategist II: LD/BD (263) or the K-12 Instructional Strategist II: ID (264) endorsements preferred.
TITLE: Substitute Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS: Holds an Iowa teaching certificate, meets the requirements of certification, or holds a Substitute Teaching certificate or a Substitute Authorization certificate issued by the State of Iowa.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
JOB GOAL: To enable each child to pursue his education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his regular teacher.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review with the principal or department head all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
- Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned.
- Teaches the lessons outlined and described in the teachers lesson plans.
- Consults with the building principal before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the teachers lesson plans.
- Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class.
- Reports in writing, on the form provided by the school secretary, on the day’s activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
- Verifies with the school secretary that his/her attendance will or will not be required on the following teaching day.
- Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Per diem, at rates currently established by the Board.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Medium Work - lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently or up to 10 lbs. constantly. Stooping and kneeling occasionally. Reaching, talking, and hearing frequently. Must be able to remain mobile throughout the work day.
