What are the responsibilities and job description for the Digital Communications & Engagement Coordinator position at RiverCOG?
RiverCOG is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Digital Communications & Engagement Coordinator. This full time, 35-hour per week position requires good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude, in addition to the qualifications listed below. The Digital Communications & Engagement Coordinator will play a key role in outreach for an educational housing program (Shared Foundations) with other additional responsibilities throughout the agency and its programs. This position combines creative content development with stakeholder outreach which can look like managing communication strategy, strengthening public presence, and fostering meaningful community engagement. Some flexibility for a hybrid remote work schedule may be accommodated after an initial probationary period.
Essential Functions
• Creation of short-form educational content for social media
• Develop, implement, and maintain social media strategy across platforms for the Shared Foundations housing education program
• Graphic design & branding for Shared Foundations program and other programs as needed (examples: graphic design/branding for conservation plan, creating templates, graphic representation of stats for programs, etc.)
• Maintain public engagement database of individuals, groups, and upcoming/recurring community events
• Coordinate and staff community engagement/events such as workshops, pop-up tabling events, and community meetings
Capabilities
• Script, shoot, direct, edit short-form videos and other content for social media
• Creation, growth, and maintenance of social media accounts for the Shared Foundations educational housing program (frequency of posts, caption writing, promotion of, content, comment, and dm management, tailoring messages to different platforms)
• Knowledge of social media trends
• Proactive understanding of algorithmic treatment of posts and ability to improve upon them
• Monitor analytics to refine outreach and maximize engagement
• Graphic design (logos, flyers, branded materials, templates, presentation materials)
• Consistent branding (color palette, fonts, etc.) to maintain a consistent regional identity
• Light research in areas of topical knowledge (housing) & equitable community engagement (how to find the people we haven’t found)
• Support staff in facilitating inclusive and accessible engagement processes
Technical Qualifications
• Required: Knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, video editing software, filming capabilities, MS
Office Suite, Adobe InDesign, Zoom
• Preferred: Experience with Vyond, Wix, Constant Contact, familiarity with AI tools, Canva
Other Qualifications
• Ability to condense and communicate complicated topics down into short, understandable pieces of material
• Ability to quickly learn (or already know) about topics related to housing, housing planning, zoning, economic development, conservation, general planning
• Able to work within a small team environment
• Comfort with bringing forth creative ideas
• Interested in learning about various topics/willing to ask questions
• Comfort with setting timelines and meeting deadlines (prioritization)
• Ability to demonstrate methodical, careful approach to work
• Ability to synthesize visionary ideas into tangible work products
• Communicate effectively about project and time management needs
• Knowledge in the field of housing planning is preferred, but not mandatory
• Strong writing, editing, graphic design, videography, and photography skills
Supervision
• Works under the general direction of the Executive and Deputy Directors
• Works closely with planners, project managers, and leadership to align communications with organizational goals
Work Environment
• Standard office environment with occasional evening and out-of-office work required
• Flexible hours with permission
Compensation
• Market competitive, negotiable and commensurate with experience (3 years experience preferred), $55,000 - $70,000 per year
