The Recovery Specialist assists the Program Director, Clinical Director, and Counselor/Case Managers in supporting the overall operation of the program. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and recovery-focused environment of the residents while supporting the day-to-day operations of the program.

You possess excellent organizational skills and can complete administrative, scheduling, and documentation responsibilities accurately and efficiently.

Essential Responsibilities

Resident Care and Support

  • Supervise and monitor the health, safety, and well-being of program residents.
  • Promote and support residents in their recovery journey.
  • Assist residents in following daily schedules, routines, and program expectations.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support for resident and programmatic issues.
  • Assist residents with daily living needs and program requirements.

Program Operations

  • Complete daily monitoring and communication logs.
  • Maintain staffing ratios assigned by the Program Director, including remaining onsite as directed.
  • Cooperate with clinical staff to ensure effective and efficient program operations.
  • Assist with daily operational tasks, including:
  • Grocery shopping
  • Meal preparation
  • Monitoring resident chores
  • Household tasks and assignments
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of office and communal spaces.

Documentation and Compliance

  • Complete Internal Incident Reports and Critical Incident Reports when required.
  • Immediately notify supervisors of any safety, health, legal, resident, or programmatic concerns.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Utilize the agency’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system and complete assigned documentation.
  • Adhere to all HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality regulations.
  • Follow all Riverbend policies, procedures, and Employee Handbook standards.

Medication Responsibilities

  • Complete required medication training with the Program Nurse or Medication Specialist.
  • Adhere to all medication policies and procedures.
  • Observe and document residents’ self-administration of medications.
  • Complete and document daily medication counts.

Team Participation

  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings as assigned.
  • Participate in individual and group supervision sessions.
  • Participate in annual performance evaluations with the Program Director.
  • Complete all required monthly online and in-person training programs.
  • Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding scheduling conflicts or inability to cover assigned shifts.

Additional Duties

  • Utilize overdose prevention training and administer Narcan when necessary and appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to safely perform duties within a residential treatment environment.

Education and Experience Requirements

Preferred Education

  • Associate’s Degree preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in addiction recovery services, behavioral health, mental health services, or a related field, including internship placement hours.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of recovery-oriented care and best practices.
  • Ability to effectively support and promote recovery.

Certifications

  • Must obtain CPR certification.

Additional Requirements

This position is contingent upon the successful completion of a CORI background check.

  • Valid driver’s license required for most residential staff positions unless otherwise approved by the hiring manager.
  • Staff may be required to transport residents using their personal vehicle or a company vehicle.
  • Employment may be contingent upon successfully passing a driving record review.
  • Staff may be mandated to remain on duty for an additional shift when coverage cannot be secured by the on-call administrator.
  • Work location may vary based on operational needs and staffing requirements across Riverbend residential programs.
