About the Role - The Energetic Assembly Technician is responsible for the precise and safe assembly of small-scale detonators used in industrial, defense, or aerospace applications. This role involves working with sensitive energetic materials under strict safety, quality, and regulatory protocols. Candidates must have strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a commitment to maintaining a clean, controlled working environment.
Shift Hours:
1st Shift 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM $19.00 / hr. Mon–Thu. (mandatory overtime as needed)
2nd Shift 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM $21.00 / hr Mon–Thu (mandatory overtime as needed)
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble miniature detonator components in accordance with detailed work instructions, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Handle and process energetic materials (e.g., primary explosives) following strict safety procedures and protective measures.
- Operate precision tools and assembly equipment including microscopes, tweezers, and micro-dosing systems.
- Inspect components and final assemblies for defects using magnification tools and measurement gauges.
- Maintain accurate production records, inspection logs, and batch traceability.
- Participate in safety audits, hazard assessments, and incident reporting.
- Work within a cleanroom or static-controlled environment wearing appropriate PPE.
- Follow all applicable standards including ATF, DOT, and internal SOPs related to explosive materials.
- Assist in identifying process improvements and participating in root cause investigations when quality issues arise.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for delicate component assembly.
- Preferred: Familiarity with basic inspection techniques (visual, dimensional, magnified).
- Comfortable working with hazardous materials under strict controls.
- High level of attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures without deviation.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a small, high-trust team.
Education and Experience:
- MUST be able to pass ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearm) background check. No felony convictions or disqualifying misdemeanors.
- MUST be able to pass a drug test (marijuana included)
- Must be 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training a plus.
- Preferred: 1–3 years of hands-on experience in precision assembly
- Preferred: Experience working under ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.
- Prior training in explosives safety, hazmat handling, or ESD protocols is highly desirable.
Work Environment and Conditions
- Work is performed in a static-controlled, or designated explosives assembly area.
- Requires standing or sitting for extended periods and working under magnification.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols are mandatory.
- Exposure to energetic materials requires strict procedural compliance at all times.
