Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will administer the Center's bi-weekly Payroll and maintain the necessary documentation and accounting related to the Payroll System.
Essentials Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares and distributes payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
- Maintains the payroll system and enrolls and deletes employees as necessary.
- Performs all necessary accounting related to the Payroll function.
- Serves as the back-up to the Accounts Payable Accountant as needed.
- Enrolls staff in the Center's benefit program including health insurance, retirement, life insurance, long term disability, and ancillary/optional benefits as necessary.
- Maintains records of employee's Annual and Sick leave and distributes leave reports on a monthly basis. Receives and processes leave slips.
- Serves as a back-up for Worker's Compensation issues in the absence of the Human Resources Director.
- Performs all other accounting duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
- Obtains tax related data from employees and maintains necessary files.
- Perform exiting interviews and retrieves all company related properties upon termination.
- Processes W2's on a yearly basis and distributes to staff.
- Processes daily cash report and disburses to insurance for keying into the billing system.
- Assist in all auditing processes both internal and external.
- Assist in the orientation of newly hired staff.
- Maintains a strict code of confidentiality and ethics.
Supervision Required:
Position reports to the Chief Financial Officer. Employee executes independent judgement and cognitive skills with little or no direct supervision.
Experience/Training
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Skills Necessary:
- Thorough understand of business accounting/payroll practices and laws.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of PC usage and Windows Applications.
- Good analytical skills.
Pay: From $38,000.00 per year
