Experienced Bookkeeping Consultant – Client Portfolio Role (ADP QuickBooks Required)

We are a growing family-owned tax and accounting office seeking an experienced Bookkeeping Consultant to support our small business clients. This is an independent consulting opportunity for someone who is organized, reliable, detail-oriented, and confident managing bookkeeping responsibilities with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping experience, understand the importance of maintaining accurate financial records for tax purposes, and be comfortable working with multiple client accounts.

Responsibilities:

• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and loan accounts
• Maintain organized bookkeeping and expense records for tax reporting purposes
• Categorize transactions accurately within QuickBooks
• Prepare monthly and quarterly Profit & Loss statements
• Assist with balance sheets and financial reporting
• Process payroll using ADP
• Review accounts for discrepancies and resolve bookkeeping errors
• Maintain accurate and organized client financial records
• Communicate professionally with clients regarding bookkeeping needs, missing documents, and account updates
• Work alongside our tax preparation team to ensure books are accurate and tax-ready
• Manage multiple bookkeeping clients while meeting deadlines consistently

Qualifications:

• Previous bookkeeping experience required
• Strong understanding of reconciliations and financial reporting
• Experience with QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop
• Experience processing payroll through ADP preferred
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and manage client accounts responsibly
• Professional communication skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information

Preferred Experience:

• Experience working in a tax office or accounting office
• Experience handling bookkeeping for multiple small business clients
• Familiarity with payroll reporting and sales tax filings

Compensation & Structure:

This is a percentage-based consulting role tied directly to your bookkeeping clients, not a fixed hourly position.

Your income is driven by:

• The number of clients you manage
• The quality and efficiency of your bookkeeping work
• Your ability to keep books accurate, organized, and tax-ready with minimal oversight

This structure is designed for experienced bookkeepers who prefer autonomy and want their earnings to scale with performance rather than a capped hourly rate.
