Responsibilities
- Assist with patient history intake and documentation.
- Order, receive, and prepare hearing aids and related technology for appointments.
- Troubleshoot hearing devices, coordinate manufacturer repairs, and draft requests for authorizations.
- Provide instruction to patients and families on the use and care of prescriptive hearing technology.
- Schedule appointments and support day-to-day operations within the department.
- Maintain organization of clinical equipment, supplies, files, and records.
- Support community hearing health initiatives as assigned.
Candidates must provide evidence of one of the following educational pathways
- Bachelor's degree with a major in Communication Disorders;
- Bachelor's degree and certificate from a Board-approved Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology Assistant program; or
- Associate, bachelor's, or advanced degree with 18 semester credit hours in Speech-Language Pathology and/or Audiology, including 6 credits in disorders of speech, language, or hearing, or other coursework as approved by the Board.
- Experience with hearing aid cleaning, minor repairs, and able to provide some supportive assistance with educating individuals on use and care of the device.
- Eligible to become licensed as an Audiology Assistant in the State of Massachusetts.
- Hearing Instrument Specialist licensure also considered.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated professionalism and interest in technology and patient-focused care.
