The River Valley Child Advocacy Center (RVCAC) is seeking a mission-driven Executive Director to serve as its chief executive officer and provide visionary leadership and strategic direction across the organization's operations, programs, and partnerships. The Executive Director partners closely with the Board of Directors to protect the organization's vision, strengthen governance, and translate the strategic plan into focused execution. This leader is accountable for RVCAC's fiscal health, programmatic excellence, accreditation standards, and mission-driven impact.

The Executive Director builds a strong organizational culture, leads a high-performing executive leadership team, and ensures that the right people, processes, and training are in place to achieve organizational goals. Externally, the Executive Director serves as a visible voice for RVCAC, maintains effective relationships with community partners, donors, and stakeholders, and provides influence in statewide initiatives, including legislative efforts. The ideal candidate brings strong nonprofit management skills, empathy for children, particularly children affected by abuse, and a commitment to improving their quality of life and learning about effective child-abuse treatment.

Compensation:

$70,000 - $80,000 yearly


Responsibilities:Organizational Leadership and Governance
  • Create, champion, and protect the vision of the organization.

  • Maintain a strong relationship with the Board of Directors and provide the guidance, structure, and support needed for effective governance.

  • Establish and protect an organizational culture aligned with RVCAC's mission, pace, and values.

  • Maintain applicable accreditation standards and ensure continued organizational readiness.

  • Establish and execute the overall strategic plan.

  • Maintain overall fiscal responsibility for the organization.

  • Identify gaps, remove barriers, and resolve issues that limit the organization's ability to advance its mission and vision.

  • Provide overall governance of organizational operations, program implementation, and the 'Right People, Right Seats' approach needed to meet organizational goals.

  • Own RVCAC's core processes and ensure they are documented, compliant, and supported by effective training.

People Leadership and Operational Excellence
  • Lead, manage, and hold people accountable while developing a high-performing executive leadership team that fits RVCAC's culture, pace, and values.

  • Create clarity for direct reports by defining expectations and what great performance looks like.

  • Work on the organization to make it simpler, more efficient, and more productive.

  • Set crystal-clear expectations and communicate consistently to drive execution.

Community Leadership, Partnerships, and Fundraising
  • Establish and steward significant relationships at the local, statewide, and national levels.

  • Cultivate and maintain donor relationships that support fundraising initiatives.

  • Represent RVCAC as a trusted public presence and voice for the organization.

  • Provide influence in statewide initiatives, including legislative efforts that affect the organization's mission.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and three to five years of leadership experience.

  • Management skills necessary to carry out the financial, personnel, and administrative duties of a nonprofit agency.

  • Considerable knowledge of community resources and services available to children and families.

  • Demonstrated life experience showing strong empathy for children, particularly children affected by abuse; a desire to improve their quality of life; and a commitment to learning about effective child-abuse treatment.

  • Ability to establish and maintain favorable working relationships with the Board of Directors, community groups, associates, staff, and the general public.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • No criminal convictions or child maltreatment findings.
