River Valley Charter School, a public Montessori school in Newburyport, Massachusetts, serving 288 students in grades K through 8, seeks a multi-talented Assistant Teacher for a full time role in an Upper Elementary (grades 4-6) classroom.
Well-qualified candidates will have previous experience with Montessori education and a strong commitment to holistic education.

Responsiblities:
- Give lessons to individual children or small groups;
- Develop and implement curriculum;
- Provide support to students in order to assure student focus and engagement in learning;
- Help to instill and maintain a classroom culture that embodies the Montessori values of grace and courtesy;
- Take ownership of and implement the RVCS Code of Conduct as well as the specific classroom discipline plan;
- Communicate with the Lead Teacher to ensure consistent messaging to the children;
- Help plan and present Parent Information Meetings, Parent Orientations, and Open Houses, when appropriate (these events occur outside normal school hours);
- Become knowledgeable of Montessori Scope and Sequence, Massachusetts Curriculum Framework, and Charter document;
- Assist with other projects, programs and planning as assigned by the Lead Teacher or the Director.
- Serve on grade level and diverse teacher teams to improve the professional practice in the school;
- Assume other responsibilities as agreed upon with the Lead Teacher or as requested by the Director.
