What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recovery Specialist - Emerald position at RIVER VALLEY BEHAVIORAL HEALTH?
A Recovery Specialist provides basic supervision and assistance to clients of a residential substance abuse program. The Certified Adult Peer Support Specialist (APSS) provides assistance to clients of a substance abuse program using their unique lived experiences to guide and support others in some form of recovery.
Essential Functions:

Supervises clients during shifts. This includes bed checks, meal supervision, taking vitals, observing self-administration of meds, and supervising passes and visitors.

Provides assistance to office support staff by copying forms, filing, and recombining charts that are ready for termination as necessary.

Leads “pass” process group on Sunday or other support type groups and documents on each client.

Facilitates community building exercises and orientation groups.

Handles the logistics of patient arrival and departure.

Manages follow-up appointments.

Transports clients to and from RVC, recreational outings and doctor appointments.

Monitors and documents client behaviors.

Attends and helps document Family Educational groups.

Fosters collaborative working relationships among members of the leadership and management teams and programs.

Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience working in residential, crisis, healthcare, or direct care settings preferred
- Ability to observe, document, and communicate client status effectively
- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress or crisis situations
- Basic computer skills and ability to complete electronic documentation
Salary : $13 - $15
