- Answer incoming crisis calls with empathy, professionalism, and a non-judgmental approach that reflects RiverValley’s commitment to compassionate care.
- Conduct thoughtful risk assessments to determine urgency, including evaluating concerns related to self-harm, suicide, or harm to others.
- Use effective crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to stabilize callers and promote immediate safety.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in accordance with organizational standards and HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with RiverValley team members, healthcare providers, and community partners to ensure coordinated, person-centered care.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development to strengthen your skills in crisis response and behavioral health.
- Support program quality and outcomes by tracking service data and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.
- Uphold River Valley’s values through ethical conduct, respect for confidentiality, and a commitment to those we serve.

- The ability to remain calm, focused, and supportive in high-pressure or emotionally intense situations.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to providing non-judgmental, person-centered support.
- Familiarity with crisis intervention techniques; certification in Mental Health First Aid is a plus.
