Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC milling machines, including 5-axis CNC machines, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards.
- Develop and modify CNC programs using CAM software, Fanuc controls, and CAD/CAM integration tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and CATIA.
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) specifications to produce accurate parts.
- Select appropriate tooling and fixtures for machining operations; perform tool setup and adjustments as needed.
- Conduct precision measurements using bore gauges, calipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other measurement instruments to verify part accuracy.
- Troubleshoot machining issues related to geometry, tooling wear, or machine performance; implement lean manufacturing principles for continuous improvement.
- Maintain detailed documentation of machining processes, inspection results, and machine maintenance logs to ensure quality control.
Skills
- Extensive experience with CNC programming using Fanuc controls; familiarity with other control systems is a plus.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and engineering CAD design tools for part modeling and schematic interpretation.
- Strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical blueprint interpretation for accurate manufacturing.
- Knowledge of CAM software for toolpath generation on various CNC machines including mills and lathes.
- Skilled in the setup and operation of CNC tooling, machining tools, and fixtures for precision metal machining.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with expertise in electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is advantageous.
- Ability to utilize precision measurement instruments such as bore gauges, micrometers, calipers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), bore gauges, and schematics for quality assurance.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow efficiency while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Strong math skills essential for programming calculations involving geometry and measurement tolerances.
