Senior Accounting Specialist - Operations

The Senior Accounting Specialist - Operations position is responsible for performing a variety of functions within the Finance department. This includes, but is not limited to, investment activity, reconciliations, journal entries, and various other requirements.

Essential Job Functions

• Verifies and corrects unposted items
• Prepares and files bi-weekly 945 tax withholding payments and annual returns
• Reviews and processes daily investment activity including payments, purchases, sales and reconciliation of accounts.
• Add, maintain and reconcile all prepaid expenses.
• Add, maintain and reconcile all fixed asset expenses.
• Creates and enters journal entries for various purposes within the department.
• Reconciles numerous general ledger and internal checking accounts. Timing of these reconciliations will be on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• Gathers internal and external audit and exam request documents as needed.

Other Duties

• Serve as backup for various functions within the accounting department.
• Performs additional duties, as directed by management.
• General office and organizational skills.

Qualifications, Experience, and Education

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred or minimum 5 years’ experience in bank accounting environment.
• Strong knowledge of banking systems, financial reporting and general ledger accounting.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated proficiency with office software including spreadsheets, word processing, and electronic mail applications.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to successfully work both as an individual contributor as well as a team member.
• Ability to multi-task conflicting priorities effectively.
• Ability to work successfully with time constraints.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Attention to detail.
