What are the responsibilities and job description for the Secondary Math Learning and School Support Coordinator position at RIVER RUN - INSTRUCTION DEPT?
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Core Curriculum, the Secondary Math Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership in developing, implementing, and
supporting the Spotsylvania County Public Schools 6-12 Math instructional program at both the division and school levels. Additionally, this position provides professional learning for all educators with a focus on utilization of the job-embedded division coaching model.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supports, develops, and evaluates 6-12 Math curriculum in collaboration with curriculum development teams.
- Develops, modifies and implements in the 6-12 Math written (development of curriculum), taught (instructional strategies and resource development), and assessed (summative and performance assessments development) curriculum for all students.
- Supports school leadership in improving student learning in schools through observation, conferencing, coaching, and modeling.
- Promotes the success of all students by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by the school community.
- Works with other division specialists/directors to promote the success of all students by advocating, nurturing, and sustaining a Division culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth.
- Provides targeted school and division professional learning for teachers, administrators, instructional coaches.
- Partners with school improvement teams to support the continuous school improvement plan (CSIP) as needed.
- Provides assistance to administrators in analyzing student performance data for the purpose of continuous improvement planning.
- Coordinates the purchase of materials/supplies and adoption of content curriculum resources
- Maintains awareness of current best practices and developments in Mathematics by reading professional publications, participating in state meetings/professional workshops, and collaborating with state content leaders.
- Seeks out and participate in personal professional growth experiences.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License
- Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
- Five (5) years of recent and successful teaching experience.
