Foot and Nail Care Nurse (RN or LPN)
River Road Estates is seeking a compassionate and dependable RN or LPN with specialized training in foot and nail care. This position will provide routine nail care for residents, including individuals with diabetes and other conditions that may place them at higher risk for foot complications.
This is a flexible, limited-hours position that may be a great fit for a retired nurse, a nurse looking for occasional additional hours, or someone already providing mobile foot-care services.
Responsibilities:
- Provide routine foot and nail care to residents, including residents with diabetes
- Complete a basic foot and nail assessment before providing care
- Safely trim and file nails within the nurse’s training and scope of practice
- Identify and report concerns such as wounds, infection, skin breakdown, circulation concerns, ingrown nails, or other changes
- Refer residents to a podiatrist or other medical provider when care is outside the nurse’s training or scope
- Follow appropriate infection-control and equipment-cleaning procedures
- Document services provided and any concerns identified
- Communicate with facility management and healthcare providers as needed
Qualifications:
- Current Wisconsin RN or LPN license in good standing
- Specialized education and documented clinical training in foot and nail care
- Demonstrated competency in providing care for diabetic and other high-risk feet
- CFCS, CFCN, or comparable foot-care certification is preferred but not required
- Knowledge of infection prevention and conditions requiring medical or podiatry referral
- Experience working with older adults is preferred
- Dependable, organized, and comfortable working independently
- Must successfully complete all required background checks
Schedule:
This is a flexible, part-time or contracted position. The frequency and length of visits will be based on resident needs and the applicant’s availability.
Pay:
Wage is based on licensure, training, certification, and experience. Contract rates may be discussed for applicants who provide their own equipment and supplies.
