Building Engineer

Position:

Building Engineer is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventive maintenance on plumbing and HVAC systems throughout our properties in the River North neighborhood of Chicago.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• ·Troubleshoot and make repairs to plumbing and HVAC systems.
• Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, soldering, and brazing.
• Install pipe fittings, valves, and plumbing fixtures such as sinks and toilets.
• Maintain and repair water and sewer lines.
• Perform drain clearing, cleaning, and rodding.
• Periodically inspect air handling units, tighten or replace belts, replace filters, and grease components.
• May perform additional maintenance duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to read and interpret documents, plans and schematic drawings.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
• Ability to define problems, collect information and establish facts.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently.
• Capability to diagnose equipment issues.
• Knowledge of safety rules, hazards and application of accident prevention measures.
• Basic knowledge of fire protection hydraulic systems and fire protection alarm systems.
• Ability to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights.
