River Hospital is seeking a per diem Sterile Processing Technician to join our Ambulatory Surgical Unit Team.
Job purpose
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for maintaining high standards for decontamination, assembly, inspecting, wrapping and sterilization of surgical instruments and medical equipment 9endoscopes) for Surgical Services and all Ancillary Departments in the facility. This includes working in conjunction with the OR staff to provide timely sterile products, trays and case carts where applicable. The Sterile Processing Technician maintains consistency and continuous workflow between the OR and Sterile Processing while practicing above average customer service. Attends to specific daily needs of the patients as delegated by the Charge Nurse. Responsible for clerical duties under the supervision of the Charge Nurse.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a Sterile Processing Technician program or Surgical Tech/OR program.
- 1 year of experience in Sterile Processing or Surgical Tech experience preferred.
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician Credential (CRCST), (2) Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician Credential (CSPDT) or (3) Certified Surgical Technologist credential.
Working conditions and Physical requirements
Regular weekday shifts. OSHA Category A – potential for exposure to blood and other infectious body substances. Bending, lifting, standing, walking, must possess the physical ability to perform CPR.
