What is needed for this job
- High school diploma, Associate/Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field preferred
- Are 18 and have 2 years of experience working with children in a professional, volunteer, or familial capacity
- Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment
- Ability to pass all relevant clearances
The responsibilities we will trust you with:
- Finding new and engaging ways to help kids learn
- Being patient and kind with our parents
- Designing age appropriate lesson plans and activities
- Cultivating and fostering a safe and nurturing environment that will encourage physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of children in the program
- Maintaining required program records, including child files and portfolios
- Adjusting curriculum to ensure that all children meet the learning objectives
- Utilizing state and YMCA guidelines to ensure the safety and well being of the children
