Responsibilities
- Review plans/specs, addenda, and RFI responses; perform mechanical takeoffs (sheet metal, piping, equipment, controls).
- Develop complete estimates: labor, material, equipment, subcontractor quotes, and general conditions.
- Scope and level vendor/sub quotes; prepare clarifications, exclusions, and value-engineering options.
- Build and maintain estimating assemblies and unit costs; update cost databases with job learnings.
- Lead bid reviews and handoffs to project management; support buyout and early submittals.
- Collaborate with GCs, owners, and design teams on design-build and GMP projects.
- Track opportunities and deadlines; coordinate pre-bid site walks
- 5 years estimating commercial HVAC (plan/spec and/or design-build).
- Strong blueprint reading and takeoff skills (e.g., Bluebeam; QuickPen/Trimble, FastPIPE/FastDUCT, or similar a plus).
- Solid grasp of assemblies, crew rates, productivity factors, and means & methods.
- Knowledge of mechanical codes; experience with public works/prevailing wage a plus.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (formulas, lookups); estimating/CRM tools experience preferred.
- Clear communicator with builders' mindset: accurate, organized, deadline-reliable.
- Ability to pass airport/security background checks when required.
